KILLEEN, TX — Students at Joseph A. Fowler Elementary will have a surprise waiting for them when they walk into school this morning.

Each and every student will have their own book waiting for them all thanks to a Florida-based clothing store, Kind Cotton.

Kind Cotton’s mission is to promote and encourage childhood literacy across the country.

"We started this mission to just basically be able to give my personal students more books right? And it kind of has expanded to something that's so amazing" said Kind Cotton co-founder Kaitlin Johnstone.

The partnership was the perfect opportunity to show their gratitude to staff and students.

“We donated over 800 books to Joseph A. Fowler and 180 masks. So every staff member will have a mask, and every child that day will have a book on their desk,” said Johnstone.

The good egg was the book of choice for the entire school. It's a beautiful story of self-love, perseverance, and kindness.

“I really like how this book talked about self-care because not only is that sending a message to students but it's also sending a message to parents and teachers because self-care is really important especially right now with everything that's going on,” said a mother of an elementary student Gigi Alvarez.

Students say the book shows that you don't have to be perfect.
