Gov. Abbott signs law on use of less-lethal force by officers

AUSTIN, Texas (KXXV) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed Senate Bill 2570 into law, clarifying when correctional facility guards and peace officers can legally use less-lethal force.

The bill, introduced in March, was passed by the Senate on May 27 and by the House on May 28 before reaching the governor’s desk. Abbott announced the signing via social media on Tuesday.
