A North Dakota neighborhood has adopted an unusual community pet.

Meet Jonnie the deer.

She can be found regularly roaming the streets of Sterling.

A resident and her son rescued the doe from the side of the road three years ago.

She was found next to her dead mother with a broken leg. The family nursed the fawn back to health.

Now, she apparently always makes a visit to the neighborhood, stopping by homes and interacting with the families there.

"It's great that she gives joy to so many people. She's a wonderful animal and you see how sweet they really are," Meghan Fallgatter said.

Resident say the deer wanders, but always come back home to Sterling to have her babies.

The town follows Jonnie's adventures across many Facebook posts.
