NEW YORK — Syracuse police are asking for the public's help locating the suspect responsible for the death of a dog, and a kitten found with no legs.

Police said on July 7, officers were called to an area near Highland Park where an emaciated dog was found apparently left to die.

The investigation has led police to believe that the dog was intentionally left at that location by an unknown person. The dog was found lying on a blanket underneath bushes.

The dog was treated by medical professionals, but did not survive.

On July 25, police were called to the 100 block of Schneider Street where a kitten was found appeared to be tortured.

The kitten was found to have no front legs and other fresh wounds. The kitten was treated by medical professionals, who concluded that it appeared to have both of the legs amputated.

The kitten did not survive the injuries.

An animal cruelty investigator is seeking the public's help locating the person responsible for these deaths.

Anyone with information is asked to call the investigator at (315) 442-5336.
