The 2020 United States Census is just over two months away and groups in the area want to make sure that everyone is counted.
Information gathered through the Census will help determine funding for education, transportation, community development, and other public resources.
One person not being counted in the Census can cost the community $10,000 over the next ten years through the lack of funding for these programs.
"We also gain to receive representation. If are able to get a complete count in the state of Texas, we are able to able to gain three additional congressional seats for the upcoming election cycle,” Peacock said. “By gaining this and making sure we are appropriately counted, we ensure that our fellow Texans are appropriately represented."
Census counters for the 2020 Census will start the count on April first.
