PEARLAND, TX — A Texas boy's parents are furious after a teacher took a sharpie to their son's head.

It all stemmed from a haircut and violation of the boy's school dress code.

It's an embarrassment Dante Trice says his son Juelz may feel for a long time. He's a shy, respectful kid, which is why he didn't talk back or resist when two staff members at Berry Miller Junior High did this.

"To hold my son against his will and color his hair, and they said they laughing while they're doing it," said Trice. "That makes me even more mad. So like, my kid is a joke."

Juelz said the permanent marker or going to in-school-suspension were his only two options for showing up with a design cut in his head.

Juelz mom, Angela Washington, says they are very involved and would have taken care of it, but were never notified.

"You should have been like, okay, we need to call your mother first to let her know first what was going on," said the boy's mother. "No one did that at all."

Pearland ISD's dress code does say "extreme hairstyles such as carvings, mohawks, spikes, etc. are not allowed."

It does not say how to handle it if a student violates that.

Juelz' mom says the administrator behind the coloring called her and said after thinking about it, he shouldn't have handled things that way.

"They were very apologetic, but it -- it still happened," said Juelz' mom. "You know, for an adult, nobody should think that's the correct way to handle a situation."

After reaching out to Pearland ISD, they made a statement that, "a campus administrator mishandled disciplinary action," and what happened is not condoned by the district.

The administrator allegedly behind it all is currently on administrative leave.

"What they done to my son was wrong and somebody needs to pay for it some type of way," said the boy's father Dante Trice.

The district also says further action is forthcoming regarding the employee behind this incident.

No word on what exactly that is yet.
