BURLESON COUNTY, TX — Two current inmates and one corrections personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 inside the Burleson County Jail.

Chief Deputy John Pollock says the Burleson County Sheriff's Office learned two inmates who were recently in custody tested positive for coronavirus. The chief deputy says the department learned of the diagnosis after the two had been released from jail.

Chief Deputy Pollock says several members of the jail staff, a member of the Patrol Division and several inmates who came into close contact with the two positive inmates were tested for COVID-19. Fourteen total tests were conducted.

Those test results revealed two current inmates and one jail staff member tested positive. The department says all other test results came back negative.

Chief Deputy Pollock says none of the three people who tested positive for COVID-19 are showing symptoms. The corrections personnel is self-quarantining for 14 days and will be re-tested.

The two inmates are being monitored by medical staff and are isolated within the jail for 14 days. Chief Deputy Pollock says they are being housed separately from inmates in general population.

The department says it will continue to follow guidelines from the CDC.
