Two arrested in connection to Gatesville church vandalism

GATESVILLE, TX — Two males were arrested in connection to vandalism at Gatesville churches last week.

Gatesville Police responded to a report of Vandalism/Criminal Mischief at the Mount Calvary Church of God, located in the 100 block of North 12th Street, Gatesville, Tx on Wednesday, July 29.

Officers learned that sometime from the evening of Tuesday, July 28 to the morning of Wednesday, July 29, unknown suspect(s) spray painted derogatory remarks to include a pentagram and the “Circle A” which is a symbol of anarchy on the face of the church.

In addition to spray painting the church face, the suspect(s) also threw a rock through a window of the Sweet Home Baptist Church, across the street.

On July 31, 2020 Gatesville Police Investigators, arrested a 15-year-old male juvenile connected with the incident involving both churches in Gatesville.

An arrest warrant was also obtained for Nickolas Harborth, 19, of Gatesville.

Harborth was arrested on the outstanding warrant and transported to Coryell County Jail that night.

Both subjects will face charges of criminal mischief over $750.00 to a place of worship with bias and/or prejudice, a 3rd Degree Felony, according to police.
