COPPERAS COVE, TX — A Copperas Cove church says they have about 20 people within their congregation with COVID-19 symptoms, and five positive cases.

Five people have tested positive for COVID-19 from Victory Baptist Church and about 20 are showing symptoms, according to now-deleted Facebook posts.

"This has seemed to spread very easily and quickly," the post said. "While most people are managing their symptoms well, those who have underlying issues and weaker systems are not doing as well. Please stay positive, stay connected, keep praying, and only make helpful encouraging comments to those effected."

The church posted a statement on their website saying a guest preacher tested positive for COVID-19 after visiting Victory Baptist on Wednesday.

"We minimized his contact with people Wednesday night and he flew home Thursday morning," according to Victory Baptist Church.

The church says they will livestream their service on Facebook in the meantime.

"With as fast and easy as this is moving and the toll it has taken on some, we do not want to risk anyone of our precious people," the statement said.
