An assault with a deadly weapon suspect who was believed to have barricaded himself in a home Sunday turned himself into police the next day.

The Navarro County Sheriff's Office says around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, the Navarro County Sheriff's SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Unit responded to a mutual aid request for assistance from Limestone County Sheriff Dennis Wilson.

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office and other agencies were investigating an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon case outside Mexia and believed the suspect was possibly barricaded inside a home.

After an extensive search of the area and home, the suspect was not found and was believed to have left the home before authorities arrived.

On Monday, the Navarro County Sheriff's Office says the suspect turned himself in to the Limestone County Sheriff's Office and was arrested without incident.
