WHITNEY, TX — Whitney police arrested a man Thursday who drove into the Tres Hermanos parking lot, struck a man with his vehicle and then put him in the back of his vehicle and sped away.

The suspect has been identified as 52-year-old David Lee Holiday of Clifton.

The incident occurred at the Tres Hermanos restaurant in the 800 block of South Colorado Street Thursday evening.

Officers responded to the call at 10 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing a silver vehicle pull into the parking lot at a high speed, and then hitting a man standing in the lot.

Witnesses told police that the driver stopped after hitting the man and put him in the backseat of his vehicle. The suspect then headed east on Highway 22.

Officers responded to the call and saw the suspect traveling south on Highway 22 toward the Whitney Dam. Police pulled the suspect over south of Whitney.

Police said they then discovered the injured man in the rear of the vehicle and transported him to Hillcrest hospital in Waco.

The Department of Public Safety assisted officers with investigating the crime scene.

Holiday is being held at the Hill County Jail on charges of aggravated assault SBI and driving while intoxicated.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with additional information should contact Whitney police at 254-694-2638 or Christopher.Bentley@cityofwhitneytx.org.
