NAVARRO COUNTY, TX — A Navarro County 14-year-old boy was found uninjured early Wednesday morning after going missing for hours during stormy weather.

Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said 14-year-old Joseph Cortez, who has a mental impairment, was found at 6:45 a.m. when he showed up at a home in Angus. Joseph was confused but not injured.

The sheriff's office was working to reunite the teen with his parents on Wednesday morning.

Tanner said he is thankful to the volunteers and community members who searched for Joseph throughout the night. Officials used a FLIR enhanced commercial drone to search the area in an attempt to locate him.

The Office of Emergency Management sent out an alert to look for Joseph around 7:30 p.m.

Although severe weather was predicted for the area, Navarro County fortunately only saw rain.
