KEMPNER, TX — Mari Peaster describes her son, Douglas Redlin, as a fantastic son, an artist and very loving.

He was a 6th grade history teacher and football coach at Rancier Middle School in Killeen.

He was two weeks away from his wedding when he unexpectedly passed away. Redlin unknowingly suffered from a heart defect.

It's been seven years since her son's passing. Peaster honors him daily with angels throughout her home.

This Christmas season, she decided to do something special by dedicating an "angel Christmas tree" in his honor.

Peaster says she has received angel ornaments from fellow grieving parents and pays it forward by sending angels to other grieving parents. She placed the ornaments on a smaller Christmas tree that's right next to her traditional tree.

"When I put the angels on the big tree, they get lost and they don't have the impact and you don't feel the presence of the angels and the presence of him, and so that's why they got a little tree all to themselves," she said.
