MARLIN, TX — The Marlin ISD Superintendent Michael Seabolt has resigned, effective immediately, without a contract buyout. According to Board Member Eddie Ellis, the letter of resignation was dated last week.

The resignation came right after Seabolt was placed on unpaid administrative leave.

On August 7, Marlin Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to place Superintendent Michael Seabolt on unpaid administrative leave, said Board President Billy Johnson.

The vote came during a special meeting of the board.

In June, the board voted to suspend Seabolt and ordered an investigation into his administration -- into district affairs as well as Seabolt's performance as superintendent.

The board also voted to proceed to terminate Seabolt's contract. Johnson could not confirm when or if Seabolt's contract termination would take effect.
