KEMPNER, TX — The Mayor of Kempner announced the appointment of new Municipal Court Judge Kenneth Mahoney on Tuesday during a city council meeting.
Mahoney will be replacing Judge Gene Isenhour who submitted his resignation in early September. Isenhour submitted his resignation along with the city secretary and the assistant secretary, leaving the city hall to temporary close.
“The City has been going through some issues with the mayor. I can’t go into detail about those issues, but I know that those employees had expressed to me about the mayor and the way that they are treated at city hall,” said City Council member John Wilkerson.
Since these events, the mayor, Dr. Keith Harvey, has been posting on Facebook frequently to address the incident.
In one post, he said that,"You can't fix stupid," and "self-imposed ignorance is contagious."
He added that, "Remember it’s better to be accurate than an miserable self loathing gossiping idiot."
Harvey has made it clear on his social media that he has no intention on resigning, despite the requests. He has called another Facebook group, Citizens of Kempner, a hate group.
He said he had reported it as a hate group on Facebook as well.
