"Elijah was brilliant intellectually and had an amazing soul. He was a kind, compassionate, loving, and wonderful human being. He was a loving father and husband. He loved animals. We have had animals all his life, and he has a dog named Oddie, and a cat named Astra. He had a strength of resolve, and a determination you could only admire. Long before he became a police officer, he did his best to help people in need. He was there for his friends and family to the absolute best of his ability. He was the light of our lives, with a charming smile and lively mischievous eyes. He loved to read, play soccer, watch baseball, football, hockey and more, as well as spend time with friends and family. He was admired by many, especially his father, mother, and sister. Elijah did not want to be the center of attention. He would be embarrassed by all of this. But he was a hero, and he deserves every bit of love and respect we can offer up to him. His passing leaves an enormous hole in all of our lives."
According to reporting by WMUR, Garretson is from New Hampshire, is where is family is.
