UPDATE: 10 hour road closure after 18-wheeler hits powerlines on SW HK Dodgen Loop in Temple

UPDATE 6:35 P.M.:
The Temple Police Department says the access road is closed off for continued clean up and pole repair. Drivers are being diverted to the 5th Street exit westbound and 31st Street exit eastbound.

UPDATE 3:50 P.M.:
The Temple Police Department says crews are on scene replacing poles and raising power lines.

The estimated time for replacing poles and the power lines impacted by the 18-wheeler crash is approximately 10 hours.

The police department says to use the service road while crews are working.

ORIGINAL 2:05 P.M.:
The Temple Police Department is assisting a traffic crash involving an 18-wheeler at the 600 block of SW HK Dodgen Loop.

Temple Police said the 18-wheeler hit overhead power lines, which caused them to fall onto the roadway. All lanes of traffic are closed off until the power line can be safely removed.

Police recommend drivers traveling through the area to use an alternate route.
