Chief Lopez said this was a very active investigation and had limited information available at the time of the press conference.

Chief Lopez said around 4 p.m., KPD was doing a joint investigation with DPS and the U.S. Marshals looking for a suspect who has a probation violation for aggravated assault and is wanted for several incidences over the past several weeks in and around the city of Killeen, including theft, aggravated assault, and evading arrest.

The suspect, identified as Jonathan Burr by Chief Lopez, was spotted around 4 p.m. and when officers tried to stop him, he got in his vehicle and a police chase started.

"During the pursuit, the suspect fired several shots at the DPS Trooper striking his windshield several times. Luckily there was no injuries and he was okay," Chief Lopez said.

The suspect then crashed the vehicle and took off on foot. Police followed and chased after him, cornering him into a home in the area and continued searching for him.

A DPS helicopter as well as drones were being used to search for Burr in the area, and Chief Lopez said the police department has been receiving tips on possible sightings.

Burr is wanted for theft of a vehicle, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and evading arrest.

Chief Lopez emphasized that the suspect is armed and dangerous, and to not approach him if you see him - call 911 immediately.

"We're not gonna give up until he's apprehended," Sgt. Washko said.
