MARLIN, TX — Residents in Marlin received a big blessing this morning.
Falls County Lions Club, Samaritan House, Central Texas Food Bank and others hosted a food bank at the intersection of Coleman Road and Oak Street.
People lined up in their cars to receive non-perishable food items and fruit.
The Falls County Sheriff's Office was there in full force directing traffic and blocking off nearby streets to ensure the safety of volunteers and drivers.
"I'm really excited. It's to help out in the long run. Most people need a lot help around here," said James Gruston.
"I'm delighted that they came because this food is for them," said Letitia Esteep, Manager and Director of the Falls County Samaritan House.
Officials say the food drive will take place again on May 22 at the same location from 9 am until noon.
To volunteer or to donate for the food drive, please call the Falls County Samaritan House at 903-286-3671.
