A group of Collegiate High School students graduating Friday night took a knee at Cabaniss Field.
Most, but not all, of the students were seen spread out from their socially distanced spots on the field kneeling during the national anthem.
Protesters and law enforcement officers across the country have been seen taking a knee since George Floyd was allegedly killed while in police custody May 25.
Kneeling during the national anthem has been in the news before. In 2016, quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem at NFL games. Despite criticism, Kaepernick said kneeling is how he chooses to protest against police brutality.
