COPPERAS COVE, TX — Copperas Cove city leaders are tackling the conversation on how to move forward after their utility administration company, FATHOM, closed for good.

The city staff recommended, and council later approved, to handle administrative services in-house. Before the upcoming transition from FATHOM to the City’s new operation, the City will need to secure new software.

City leaders discussed possible options for vendors to handle water administration. The council gave a nod of approval for the city manager, Ryan Haverlah, to negotiate with select vendors.

FATHOM abruptly announced they were dissolving their business earlier this month, leaving customers with more questions than answers.

As the City looks to the future, many still have questions surrounding their billing.

“Customers that are on auto-pay, it is my recommendation that they stop that auto-pay. Previously I had discussions with FATHOM where they would stop it. I verified that they did not,” said Haverlah.

FATHOM will shutdown on Dec. 9. Bills should be paid to the City after the closure of the company through the following methods:

  • By Mail: City of Copperas Cove Utilities Administration, P.O. Drawer 1419, Copperas Cove, TX 76522
  • In Person: City of Copperas Cove Utilities Administration, 914 S. Main Street, Suite A, Copperas Cove, TX 76522

Online payment methods are being researched for future use as the City continues to transition.

“A payment by phone method will be available in the coming days. The direct phone line number will be announced in the coming days,” said Kevin Keller, Public Information Officer.

The City advises customers to continue making regularly scheduled payments on utility accounts as they deal with the ongoing situation.
