BELLMEAD, TX — A 7-year-old Bellmead girl was accidentally hanged with a piece of clothing while playing on a swing set, according to police.
Bellmead Police spokesperson Lt. Kinsey said the girl is alive.
She said the girl is no longer on a ventilator and is awake.
Doctors are continuing to monitor her condition.
Bellmead officers responded around 3:15 p.m. April 26 to the 1200 block of Catherine Avenue.
The 7-year-old girl was playing in the backyard of her home on a swing set with her two siblings when a piece of clothing wrapped around her neck, according to Lt. Brenda Kinsey.
One sibling helped the girl, while the other sibling went to tell their father.
The father called 9-1-1.
The girl was transported from the scene by EMS.
Lt. Kinsey said police do believe the incident was accidental.
