Sixteen-year-old Donnie gets to live his dream of becoming a musician by hitting the stage at Nexus ESports in Waco to get a special music lesson by singer-songwriter Donna Beckham. Donnie and Donna hit it off right away and had a jam session.
It's more than music for Donnie.
"It's definitely a good thing to go to when you're angry or depressed or anything," he said.
Four years ago, he taught himself how to play.
"I'm impressed with your skills already. Do you practice a lot?" asked Beckham.
"I do," Donnie said.
"That's a good thing!" said Beckham.
Donnie loves classic rock, Jimi Hendrix and wants to be a Marine. "I just want to defend my country," he said.
On the stage he got a lesson in both the guitar and life.
"Don't ever give up hope on songwriting. It's such a cool outlet of expressing yourself," said Beckham.
Donnie has a gift for the guitar and putting smiles on the faces around him. He's hoping a loving family will be a part of his story.
"I say if it don't apply, let it fly. Don't let anyone tell you what you're gonna do," said Donnie.
