Governor Abbott issues executive order to help with medical resources, says 11 deaths in the state

Governor Abbott gave an update on COVID-19 in Texas on Tuesday. He said that the amount of positive coronavirus cases now exceeds 700.

The Texas State Health Department has reported 715 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. They also reported 11 deaths, 65 counties with cases, and tests administrated has exceeded 11,000.

During the press conference, Gov. Abbott spoke in front of boxes of medical equipment, saying the state has an ample amount of medical equipment, including 10,000 masks.

The Supply Chain Strike Force ordered over $80 million of medical supplies this week. He said that over 100,000 masks will be distributed to medical professionals soon.

In addition to an earlier executive order canceling all non-essential medical procedures and letting two patients stay in one room, he gave another order to help alleviate hospital bed needs. The new executive order requires hospitals must submit daily reports on hospital bed capacity to state heath department and daily reports of COVID-19 tests
