WACO, TX — Healthcare workers are putting themselves at risk to keep the most vulnerable Central Texans safe from COVID-19.

Monday's Hidden Hero decided to flip the script and take care of the healthcare workers by making sure they have something comfortable to wear.

LuLaRoe Redhead Duo business owner Christine Rothenbush gave away 100 pairs of leggings to nurses and staff at Ascension Providence Hospital.

"We've heard all the stories about how crazy hours nurse are working, all the things they are doing and how they have to change their scrubs multiple times a day," Rothenbush said.

So, this is her way of showing appreciation and spreading joy.

"Leggings are a great way to do it. It's what our company is known for and they are buttery soft. They really are a great thing," Rothenbush said.

It was a kind gesture to show the healthcare workers they aren't forgotten.

"To receive a donation like this is so important. To feel the love from the community and the appreciation from the community, the way they have reached out, donating different things including the leggings has really been a nice comfort for all the nurses in the hospital," Director of Nursing for Womens and Newborns, Sunny Deeds said.

But for Rothenbush, it's all about loving on each other, even through hard times.

"It's just a wonderful feeling when you see that you've touched somebody's life, even just for a moment. This is a crazy time we live in and sometimes you just gotta let people know, 'we respect you, we understand you, we feel for you and we are here for you,'" Rothenbush said.

And show people you care when it matters most.
