MEXIA, TX — The City of Mexia said a man died by suicide on Thursday morning.

The city said police responded to a call reporting that an individual had jumped off the railroad overpass at the intersection of the Union Pacific Railroad track and U.S. Hwy 84 in Mexia.

At the scene, police discovered an injured man lying on the ground.

The patient was treated on-scene and then transported to Parkview Regional Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The city said the patient subsequently passed away at Parkview Regional Hospital and preliminary indications are that the cause of death was due to injuries sustained resulting from a fall from height.
