GLEN ROSE, TX — Every family that has driven through a drive-thru safari has an ostrich story, but this one safari in Glen Rose has a cafe that overlooks the land.

Overlook Cafe stands above the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose.

Visitors can sit on the deck, enjoy a burger and check out the animals that roam the safari. To view the full menu, click here.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is a drive-thru safari home to more than 1,000 exotic, endangered animals. The safari opened over 30 years ago.

The safari is open at different times, depending on the season. You can learn more about their schedule to plan your visit by clicking here.

According to their website, the safari started as one man's passion of conservation and fighting on behalf of endangered animals.

They said that Fossil Rim is the first facility of its kind to have been accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center participates in a worldwide network of wildlife conservation organizations working to restore the delicate balance between people, animals and the environment. Fossil Rim represents more than 1,100 animals, including 50-plus species of native and non-native animals living peacefully at the 1,800-acre park.

They have tortoises, bison, cheetahs, wildebeests and more. They also have giraffes, rhinos and two different types of zebras.

And of course, it wouldn't be a drive-thru safari without ostrich.
