SAN MARCOS, TX — After almost three months of losing her leg in an on-duty accident, a San Marcos officer was welcomed home from the hospital on Thursday.
The City of San Marcos gave officer Claudia Cormier a warm welcome. They called her a local hero.
According to CBS Austin, officer Cormier has been undergoing months of rehab and medical procedures. They said she lost her leg when a suspected drunk driver hit her on I-35 as she directed traffic in May.
San Marcos Police Chief Chase Stapp said her injury could have been a life-threatening one. She was welcomed home with hundreds of local partners in the community.
He said she is an inspiration to us all.
