All Texas Meals on Wheels programs got some great news that will help them continue to feed seniors.

Governor Greg Abbott announced the state has received a $16.2 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services. The grant is a life-saver for programs like Meals on Wheels to ensure healthy meals for seniors who rely on them most.

"You know, money's always the problem for non-profits, and especially ones like ours that depend a lot on federal funding through the state," said Debbie King, Executive Director for Meals on Wheels Waco. "So right now, we just want to make sure people don't get hungry they don't get malnourished during this crisis."

The grant was part of a $250 million outlay authorized by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
