Sugarland mother shoots man attempting to break in to her home

SUGARLAND, TX — According to KTRK, a man was shot as he tried to break in to a home outside of Houston in Sugarland, Texas.

The attempted break-in occurred around 5 am in the 200 block of Shadow Wood Dr.

A woman was inside the home with her 8-year-old son when she heard a noise downstairs. As she went to investigate the disturbance, she saw the attempted burglar trying to get in the home through a window.

The woman then fired a single gunshot hitting the suspect in the chest.

The suspect left a trail of blood as he attempted to run away before police were able to find him in a neighbor's yard.

The suspect was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition. No one in the home was injured.

Officers are going over surveillance footage to determine if there are any other suspects.
