Six El Salvador natives dead, several injured in major accident near Robstown

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that six El Salvador natives were killed and several others were injured in an accident near Robstown.

The accident apparently occurred last evening, but officials didn’t learn of the accident until about 7 a.m. They were tipped off when they saw several people walking near the area.

The accident occurred near FM 1694 in between State Highway 44 and County Road 44 near Robstown.

Robstown police said the vehicle crashed into a canal in a sorghum field.

Several people who were trapped inside the wreckage had to be rescued and were taken to area hospitals.

There are multiple fire departments and EMS on the scene as well as HALO Flight, Department of Public Safety troopers and the Border Patrol.

The road is closed off as crews continue to investigate.‬
