AUSTIN, TX — Following his highly publicized Cancun vacation, Texas Senator Ted Cruz is still feeling the heat after new documents reveal the trip to Mexico... was actually more extensive than first thought.

Originally citing his daughters, Senator Cruz says he left Texas during the historic Arctic blast last week to escort them to Cancun. However, resurfaced text messages originally reported from Reform Austin depict otherwise. Revealing Heidi Cruz, the Senator's wife, asking neighbors to join the Senator's family for their tropical vacation.

Senator Cruz spoke exclusively to ABC 13's Tom Abrahams, saying in part, "Let's be very clear, the angry haters screaming resign, we're at a very divided place in our country, where people are screaming vitriol and hate, and I think that is a very sad sign of where we are"

Following this controversy, many state and federal leaders are calling on the Texas Senator to resign.
