Governor Abbott has declared a state of disaster in several counties due to the impact of Imelda.
A disaster declaration has been declared for the following counties:
- Brazoria
- Chambers
- Galveston
- Hardin
- Harris
- Jasper
- Jefferson
- Liberty
- Matagorda
- Montgomery
- Newon
- Orange
- San Jacinto
The declaration will allow local officials access to any state resources they may require to respond to the severe weather.
Resources were deployed to the Gulf Coast Monday to prepare for Imelda.
