AUSTIN, TX — Governor Greg Abbott is deploying resources to Louisiana ahead of Tropical Storm Barry making landfall.

The state of Texas is sending Texas Task Force 1’s Type III Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team along with with additional water rescue assets to assist in response efforts.

Governor Abbott says the State Operations Center will remain at its elevated level III (increased readiness) activation. State resources are also ready to respond to any severe weather that may occur in Texas as a result of Tropical Storm Barry or any other event.

In a statement, Governor Abbot said the state is continuing to monitor the storm.
