The Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association is hoping to dedicate portions of the state highways and interstate highway to fallen troopers who were killed in the line of duty.

The 86th Legislature approved the signs, however the state will not help fund the production of the signs.

The Texas DPS Troopers Foundation is raising money in order to make the signs a reality.

President of the DPS Officers Association Richard Jankovsky said the signs are priceless.

"I can't think of a more fitting way to commemorate their lives and what they gave for the state of Texas, and this will ensure that they are never forgotten. This is a permanent memorial and tribute to them and what they gave for the citizens of the State of Texas," said Jankovsky.

Jankovsky said the association will start the project once all of the money is raised.
