Waco PD makes arrests in connection to aggravated assault on a public servant

WACO, TX — A Waco Police Department detective was shot at after a shooting at the Estella Maxie Apartment Complex.

The shooting at the apartment complex resulted in damaged property but there were no injuries reported.

Immediately after this shooting happened, a Waco PD detective was in the area and quickly located the suspect’s vehicle related to the deadly conduct and shooting that took place at the apartments.

While the detective was following the black Jeep SUV, suspects from inside the vehicle knowingly began to shoot at the detective with an AK-47.

After the detective's vehicle was struck by the suspects, he backed off for his own safety.

After a lengthy investigation, 3 people have been charged with offenses related to the incident.

Those individuals are identified as Wilford Carpenter, 20 years old, Jaqaun Davis, 21 years old, and a 16 year old male juvenile.

Carpenter and the juvenile were both charged Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, a 1st degree felony, and all 3 individuals were charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Both Carpenter and the 16 year old juvenile were already in custody for previous shooting-related incidents and were served the warrants while in custody.

Jaquan Davis was arrested in Ft. Worth for his warrant of tampering with physical evidence.

More charges may be forthcoming for him in the future.

This investigation is still ongoing.
