WACO, TX — The Waco Police Department said that a K-9 is celebrating his retirement after 6 years of working with the department.
Hondo is an 8 year old Belgian Malinois and has worked for the Waco Police Department since 2014.
Police said that through Hondo's career, he has primarily worked during the evening and night time hours and has been an essential part of the K9 unit. He has participated in over 250 primary arrests and nearly 400 assisting arrests. His duties have included capturing wanted felons, locating narcotics, assisting in searches of all kinds.
Hondo plans on spending more time with his family during retirement.
