US Marshal’s arrest man for October shooting that left one dead

WACO, TX — Early this morning, the US Marshal’s Lone Star Task Force served an arrest warrant for the October 15th shooting death of Jatron Lavar Thomas.

Thomas was shot in the chest at about 1 AM in the 2600 block of S. 14th Street in Waco. As officers arrived to the scene, they were able to locate Thomas. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Investigators have worked long and hard on this case to develop suspect information. Through investigations, the lead detective was able to obtain an arrest warrant for 18-year old Ocie Bernett of Waco.

Investigators are also looking at the 2 other individuals identified as suspects in this murder.

After obtaining the arrest warrant, the US Marshall’s Task Force was able to locate Ocie Thursday morning in Waco, where he was arrested. He has now been transported to the McLennan County Jail for the Murder Warrant.

At 11:41 A.M., Waco PIO Bynum confirmed that 17-year old Onobia Berber was also arrested by the Lone Star US Marshal Task Force.

Although a second arrest has been made, Waco Pio Bynum wants to remind the public the case is still under investigation and no other information is available at this time.
