AXTELL, TX — Officials said two people died Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash occurred on SH 31 and FM 2311 east of Axtell.
"A Ford SUV entered the intersection from 2311 and failed to yield right of way to a Toyota pickup truck," said a Texas DPS spokesperson. "The Toyota crashed into the Ford."
Officials said the driver of the Ford and passenger in the Toyota were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the crash at 10 a.m.
Officials are working to notify the next of kin. The investigation is still active and ongoing.
