Tuesday night crash leaves 1 dead, sends 4 to local hospital

WACO, TX — Waco PD officers were sent to the intersection of N. New Rd. and Huaco Ln. on a serious traffic crash around 9:45 pm Tuesday night.

As officers arrived, they realized how severe the crash was.

There 3 vehicles involved in the crash, a Toyota Prius, a Toyota Camry, and a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Through the investigation of the crash, detectives who were sent to the scene learned that the Toyota Prius was traveling south on New Rd. and came into the center turn lane.

The Toyota Camry involved was traveling north on New Rd and came into the center turn lane at the same time the Prius did.

The 2 vehicles collided head-on. Immediately following the collision, the Chevrolet Tahoe was struck by the Toyota Prius.

The driver of the Prius, the passenger of the Camry, and all 3 occupants of the Tahoe were transported to local hospitals for injuries received in the crash.

After being transported to the hospital, the driver of the Toyota Prius was pronounced dead at the hospital.

In addition to the severity of this crash, the driver of the Toyota Camry fled the scene.

Investigators are working to locate the next of kin for the deceased, the name will not be released at this time.
