WACO, TX — Authorities arrested a Texas State Technical College (TSTC) student Sunday morning on a murder charge after officials say he shot and killed another student on campus.
The suspect has been identified as Taylor McKibben, 20, of Canton, Texas.
At 2:33 a.m., TSTC police requested the Texas Rangers investigate a disturbance at 308 Webb Ave. on the TSTC campus, according to Sgt. Ryan Howard, Texas DPS.
When the Texas Rangers arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body. The victim, Samantha Dragoo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
College officials say 30-year-old Samantha Dragoo is a student at TSTC, and a graduate of Temple High School.
McKibben is now being charged with murder. He was booked into McLennan County Jail on a $75,000 bond. But McKibben bonded out at 10 a.m. Monday morning, according to officials.
Counseling services are being made available to TSTC students, according to a college spokesperson.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is taking the lead on the investigation.
