WOODWAY, TX — The City of Woodway has removed trees that had been planted along a Highway 84 median due to community concern regarding the foliage.

The City posted that due to high traffic counts and accidents associated with those numbers, TxDOT has decided to install a cable barrier along the Highway 84 median.

The cable barrier will be installed in the median of US 84 from just east of FM 287/ Old Lorena Road and continue through the city.

The City said they had to remove about half of the already planted Crepe Myrtle trees in order for TxDOT to gain access to the area. Crews have tried to save what was removed so the trees could be reused or re-purposed.

The cable barrier project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2020, weather permitting.

Drivers can expect periodic temporary lane closures and delays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. within the project area.
