CHINA SPRING, TX — Plans to build a $70-milllion dollar solar farm are in the works in China Spring.

It's called the Glory Leasing Solar Project, and it would take up nearly 800-acres of land north of China Spring Road and Markum Ranch Road.

It could power up to 14,000 homes and generate revenue for the China Spring Independent School District.

But people in the area have concerns.

"I don't understand why they can make that decision that's going to affect all of us," said China Springs resident Charlene Riley.

The China Spring Neighborhood Association said they plan to invite the developers to a public meeting, for both sides to to come come together and ask questions.

"What we're hoping for is that it'll be a win win for the community," said Michael Larsen, vice president of the China Spring Neighborhood Association.

As of publication time, 25 News have has not heard back from the China Spring ISD superintendent or a district representative for comment.

If all goes according to plan, work on the solar farm is expected to begin by the end of next year.
