MCLENNAN COUNTY — This July a San Antonio "Santa" will be making his rounds at the Waco Police Department.

No, it's not Christmas in July, it's actually "A Break for the Blue," a Texas-based nonprofit started by 13-year-old Sam Cisneros and his mother Elaine.

According to Sam Cisneros, the nonprofit started "Two years ago, after those police officers in Dallas were killed ... my goal being to show appreciation to police officers for the risks and sacrifices they make to keep their communities safe."

Cisneros and his mother run gift drops to stations across San Antonio, and this year they're extending their operation to Waco for the day. On July 26, the Cisneros family will bring gift cards and presents to the Waco Police Department, including around $200 worth of gift cards as well as pizza and Keurig k-cups from the Black Rifle Coffee Co. They said they will be presenting the gift drop at 3 p.m. roll call at the Waco Police Department.

Sam Cisneros says he wants appreciation for police officers to "become the trend," and that he hopes the police officers feel appreciated every time they drink coffee or use their gift card.
