RIESEL, TX — Riesel ISD has a new police chief. D.L. Wilson was named the school district's new police chief at the January 30 school board meeting and officially started on the job February 10.

While Wilson is focused on the safety of everyone in the school district, the community has welcomed him into the new role.

“It’s been a neat process. The community has been behind me 100%, and the administration is 100% on board also. And the kids seem to be very receptive that they’re going to have somebody in their hallways and on campus all the way down from the first grade all the way up to twelfth graders,” said Wilson.

Back in August, Riesel ISD Police Chief Jeff McNair was arrested by the Texas Rangers for impersonating a public servant. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement did not have a record of a Riesel ISD Police Department. The school district had not gotten the necessary paperwork to establish a police department.
