WACO, TX — A man was found "brutally murdered" in a home off Highway 6 and FM 1860, according to the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff McNamara says the victim is 55-year-old Arturo Almaraz and it is now a capital murder investigation.
The victim was found dead with a gunshot wound at a home on the 7500 block of Hwy 6 near Riesel at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Police say they suspect it was a home robbery.
No one was in custody Monday afternoon, but McNamara said because of the nature of the crime, capital murder charges are possible.
"We are asking anybody who has information about this crime to contact police," said McNamara.
Deputies surrounded the house Sunday night during the investigation.
