WACO, TX — UPDATE:
Waco Police said a 3rd arrest has been made in the murder of Kaden Hitchcock that took place at 312 Wagon Wheel on September 25, 2020.
In October 2020, investigators learned of multiple individuals that were involved in the case and 2 suspects were arrested.
19-year-old Jose Herrera and 18-year-old Kyle Depolito were arrested on warrants charging them both with capital murder for the shooting death of Kaden Hitchcock.
Both individuals were arrested by the US Marshal Lone Star Task Force in October.
Information has now led investigators to a third suspect who was arrested last week.
20-year-old Brendon Leosha Riggs was arrested in Coleman County, Texas by the US Marshal Lonestar Task Force.
After he was arrested, he was transported to the Coleman County Jail and was later transferred to the McLennan County Jail, where he is now on a capital murder charge.
Waco Police said this investigation is still ongoing at this time and no other information is currently available.
The Waco Police Department is investigating after a 21-year-old was shot to death, possibly during a robbery attempt.
Around 7:40 a.m. on September 25, officers were called to the 300 block of Wagon Wheel regarding a potential suicide of a resident in the home.
When officers arrived, they determined something else had happened. The investigation turned from a suicide investigation to a murder investigation.
Investigators with the Waco PD Special Crimes Unit determined a 21-year-old man had been shot in the bedroom of the home. He had a single gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further evidence found that the shooting possibly stemmed from a robbery attempt.
Investigators believe this was no random act of violence and that the house was specifically targeted by the suspect. This is the second shooting attempt at the home in the last month. The first occurred on August 25.
During the August shooting, the suspects targeted the wrong home and shot at a neighboring house.
At this time there is no other information available. Police say this is a very active and ongoing investigation.
