WACO, TX — Mark Schulman's Movie Bowl and Grille in Waco has been placed on hold.

Waco real estate agent Bland Cromwell, who is marketing the investor-owned land at Loop 340 and Interstate 35, says "they did not meet deadlines to close on the property they had under contract."

Schulman Amusement, based in Waco, announced plans for the 90,000 square-foot-entertainment center last year with an expected opening date in 2020.

58 Aggie Development would legally be responsible for overseeing the development of the project, but Schulman was the driving force.

Movie theaters, bowling lanes and arcade games were all in the plans for the Movie Bowl and Grille.

Once complete, the entertainment center was planned to feature 8 Digital Dine in theaters with recliner seating, reserved seating for customer convenience, 30 Lanes of Bowling, 8,000 Square Feet of Amusements (including Arcade Games, Laser Tag, Ropes Course, Virtual Reality Games, Axe Throwing, Ping Pong, and Pool Tables), meeting rooms, and more. The development would also be home to Billy’s Grille & Bar.

At the time, the projects were expected to bringnew entertainment options and jobs to Waco.

"It's going to be 250 new jobs that will be offered at the facility, 75 of them full time, so it's a definitely a good place to get your start," said Kent George, Economic Development Manager with the City of Waco in 2019.
