WACO, TX — A Change.org petition has been started to rename Waco ISD Stadium after University High School soccer coach Mike Chapman.
Chapman passed away on January 14 after suffering a heart attack. He was 58-years-old.
Chapman was a pillar of the community. He was a coach at University High School for 26 years.
He was also known through the "Make a Wish Come True" initiative and worked with students to get Christmas gifts for children in need.
According to the petition, renaming the stadium would preserve his legacy.
As of the time of publication, the petition has garnered more than 3,700 signatures. The goal for the petition is 5,000 signatures.
