WEST, TX — A West police officer was involved in an accident on Tuesday morning.

Police said that Officer Ashley Boyd was on his way to assist DPS with a crash on I-35 when the accident happened.

Another vehicle lost control due to the wet roadway and hit the officer's patrol car in the rear. Police said the impact was great enough to cause a "whiplash" effect to Boyd.

Boyd was transported to the hospital. After treatment, it was determined that he had no broken bones, but he would be very sore due to the whiplash.

In the same accident, the wrecker that was responding to the accident was also hit by another car that lost control due to the wet roadway.

Police are warning drivers to slow down while on wet roads.
